International years celebrate and inform the world about important topics, many of which are not known to the general public. Caves and karst occur around our planet but few people understand the great value of caves to humanity. Fewer still know what karst is.
We invite you to learn about how caves and karst challenge but mostly contribute to the lives of billions of people every day. We hope you will then join us in this international year of celebration!
The International Year of Caves and Karst is organized by the International Union of Speleology, the worldwide organization of cave and karst explorers, scientists, managers, and educators. We are joined by many national and international organizations, listed in the Partners page. Find out more at iyck2021.org and by visiting Lincoln Caverns for fascinating tours or one of our many fun and educational events planned throughout the year!
And be sure to check out this awesome opening ceremony and IYCK2021 video!
CPN – National Speleological Society Partnership
Preserving the Underground for Future Generations
Lincoln Caverns is a proud partner of The Cave Preservation Network, a collaboration of the National Speleological Society (NSS), the National Caves Association, private cave owners, cave explorers, and all those who are fascinated by the caving world. CPN already has great resources online and is in the process of generating educational materials to be used at caves across the country and to raise funds for protecting wild cave and karst lands for today and the future. Stay tuned for new activity booklets coming soon!
Your donations to these efforts are greatly appreciated! Be sure to add your donation to your ticket purchase or contribute during your visit to Lincoln Caverns!
