About the Caverns

About the Caverns

I decided to go to Lincoln Caverns with my family on the way home from vacation. I have been to other caves so I knew generally what to expect but Lincoln Caverns actually surpassed my expectations by far. We arrived and paid for our tour, which was about $50 for 2 kids and 2 adults. There are tours departing every 30m so we didn't have to wait long. I still wasn't expecting anything amazing bit once we entered the first cave I was flabbergasted. The caves are unbelievable. Pictures hardly do it justice. The size of the cave complex, the number of formations, and the level of access is superb. You actually get to walk right beside, below, and around amazing formations. The tour guide will tell you not to touch anything but you still have a level of closeness that I have never seen at another cave. The guides were great, also, very knowledgeable about the geologic processes and the history of the caves since discovery. I cannot stress enough how great the caves are and how close you actually get to all kinds of formations. This is a new favorite for my family!
Two Caverns for the Price of One! This tour is an amazing value. There are actually two caverns on this tour, and both are very interesting. The guides are well schooled in the geology of the cave and their enthusiasm shows. Our school group has been coming for years, and students who have already been on the tour in prior years were begging to go back this year, if that tells you anything. Fun gift shop and gem-panning available, too!
Two friends and I went yesterday after doing the 1,000 stairs hike. We had a blast. The staff were kind and accommodating. The price was extremely reasonable, and the group size was small. Marissa was an absolutely wonderful tour guide, and was very knowledgeable! She was kind, respectful, funny, and easy going. GO HERE!!!
We loved our visit to Lincoln Caverns. The students learned so much and the staff is very knowledgeable and caring!
This was truly AN AWESOME AND AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The Caves are SUPER COOL and the Employees are Extremely Knowledgeable and Kind! We Learned so much from our visit. We were able to get some GREAT PICTURES and can't wait to go back!
We had an amazing time at Lincoln Caverns. I have been to a lot of badge workshops and these were the most comprehensive I have seen. The kids learned so much (and so did the adults!!). We plan to see what we can do to help bats at home. The blacklight/flashlight tour was phenomenal! We will definitely spread the word. You do a great job. LC is truly a hidden gem!
We a wonderful time with you last night. It was worth the drive! We learned a lot and were in awe of the natural beauty of the caves. You were so knowledgeable and passionate about every aspect we were swept up in your excitement. Thank you so much for the adventure.
Loved this cave and our guide was awesome and knowledgeable. The bonus cave Whispering Pines was a equally awesome. I would recommend this stop for anyone especially families and anyone who enjoys caves.
Our Guide was the BEST We enjoyed our tour today with Cat, our guide. She was very knowledgeable and shared the history of the caves and explained the cave formations in a way that our two special needs 7 year olds could understand. Cat was patient and reassuring with them as this was their first caving experience.
Great guide, interesting tour! We've never been to smaller caverns like these and our son has never been in a cavern at all. We all enjoyed the tour! It was really cool to be so close to the formations and our guide, Mike, was not only telling us information, he was telling us stories and very clearly enjoys his job. He was enthusiastic with the kids and the adults and passed along information that made sense and was interesting to all levels of clientele. The caverns themselves are really cool - all the different formations we've seen in other large caverns but so close! It was a fairly wet day in the caverns and it was easy to see how they are alive and continuing to grow and change. Would have loved to hear the rocks whisper but the wind wasn't in our favor. Maybe we'll have to come back on a windy day :-)
Great Family Activity We brought our grandchildren, ages 4 and 2, to tour Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks. We have been to these caves four times and have enjoyed it each time. This was our first trip with the grandchildren. Our tour guide did a great job. The grandkids enjoyed the tour and it held their attention the entire time, which is no small task.
An annual favorite Every summer I choose a couple of my grandchildren (I have 21) to take to see the caves. I am a local, but most of my grandchildren are not. Each grandchild can't wait until it is his turn. They talk about it years later. I even learn something new with each visit.
My wife and I took three of our grand children (15-16 & 17) to the caverns. Before we actually entered the kids were not very excited about the idea. Once the tour started our guide was able to hold their attention and he ask questions that they eagerly answered. After the tour, they talked about this for quite some time and still bring it up! Great attraction and our Tour guide was fantastic!
We were in the area from north of Pittsburgh to attend an Altoona Curve's game and then hike and fish at Canoe Creek State Park. Well the weatherman did not cooperate for the second event and we were looking for something to do on a rainy day. Lincoln Caverns popped into my head, because obviously you would not be out in the rain. And what a great idea it turned out to be. The caves were awesome and so was our guide, Lisa. She did not just recite something she had memorized, although I am sure she was trained to do so. (We have been on a number of cavern tours where college kids would give out barely audible facts and then say, "OK, let's move on.") It was more like we were carrying on a conversation with her the whole time; she was that friendly. She brought a black light with her so we could see things not usually seen, a first for us on our many cavern tours. Like many other places, she also turned off all of the lights at one point, which was cool (There was just my wife and me on the tour, no little kids, by the way.) Overall, one of our more enjoyable trips to a cavern. Everyone at Lincoln Caverns was so nice to us: our guide, the man selling tickets and several gals we talked to in the gift shop. We were so glad we were able to salvage what would have been a rainout with our stop there.
We attended Batfest at Lincoln Caverns with our grand kids 3 1/2 and 7. A long drive from Reading but well worth the trip. It was a such fun thing to do on a cold, wet, winter day. When we arrived we had to wait a bit for the tour groups to get organized, so we wandered their huge gift shop while we waited and enjoyed complimentary coffee. The gift shop prices were very reasonable and also we were offered a discount on all bat items. The program was very well organized with programs and crafts to keep to little ones interested. The final event of the program was the cave tour. What an amazing place. The kids absolutely loved it. We actually got to see some hibernating bats, which was the highlight of their day. This was a great experience for them and we were so glad we were able to take them. Our guide, Lee, was super and very informative. She really kept the group interested. She certainly did not mind answering the many questions she got from our young granddaughter, and she had quite a few. One thing i would recommend for people visiting the cave is to be sure to bring an extra pair of old shoes or boots along for the young children because they get very muddy from touring the cave and there was really no place to get them adequately cleaned before getting back into the car. Other than that i would highly recommend this place for family fun.
Had an appointment for 5 people on this cold Thursday. The guide was very nice and we didn't feel rushed through. He even stayed and let us peruse the gift shop. I'd like to come back when the weather is warmer and check out the trails too.
Charming, friendly & memorable. My son and I did a father-son getaway to specifically visit Lincoln Caverns. It was a 4+ hour drive to get here. Wasn't sure what we were going to see but we did it because my son finds caves interesting. I think I had a better time than he did (he liked it as well). What made this adventure so satisfying was our guide Leigh. She was full of energy and enthusiasm, She also knew her stuff, the history, the types of formations going on as well as her own personal tidbits about working there and living in the area. She made us feel very welcome. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g52862-d1421138-r540056511-Lincoln_Caverns_and_Whisper_Rocks-Huntingdon_Pennsylvania.html#
We visited yesterday. My husband had been in the caverns as a child, but my children and I had never been. It was well worth the drive! Our tour guide Mike was fantastic! He made learning fun for the kids and did an excellent job explaining things as we went along. We made it just in time for the last tour of the day, and Mike still took his time and made sure we enjoyed our stay. Both kids did the panning for gems and stones and had a great time. They were both delighted with the pieces they found. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon outing!
Purely by chance we came across the Lincoln Caverns during our trip South. Breathtaking Caverns, Great Visit! We were there on a drizzle weekday and it turned out we were the only guests at that time. Tourguide Zac gave us the most amazing tour. So glad we stopped! The caverns are very impressive and interesting. Stories and explanations during the tour make it even more worthwhile.
We took our two grandsons, ages 11 and 9 on August 24th to tour the caverns. The tour guide was very informative and interesting. Our grandsons enjoyed it very much as well as my husband and myself. The boys also enjoyed panning for gems at the end of the tour. The gift shop also had great gifts.
Great experience & our guide was wonderful. Pretty sure her name was Leigh, but not positive. My 6yo daughter & 4yo niece were a little scared & the guide gave them her extra flashlight to make them feel better. She was also very personable & knowledgeable of the caves. My 10yo son really enjoyed every moment of the tour. All 3 kids loved panning for gems at the end. I'm turning 36 in 3 days, have lived in the area for most of my life & this was my first time visiting the caves. It was a very nice thing to do with the family
Visited yesterday and got a tour from a lovely guide named Alisha. She had a tremendous amount of knowledge which is wonderful to see from someone her age. She was friendly and a perfect guide. Keep up the good work!
We had a great time! My husband had never been to a cave before so it was a special experience. GREAT gift shop! I would go there just to buy unique & beautiful gifts for special occasions. The tour guide we had today was sweet, funny, & very knowledgeable.
Our tour guides were awesome! Mike and Leigh were our guides. They both got a kick with our 6 year old. Great place to visit. She panned for gems and had a great time doing that. And what she got was great! She was happy with her first experience here. Def recommend.
Sherri did an excellent job today, answered all questions and encouraged them. Kept us safe and made sure the entire group was involved. She was very pleasant and made sure we had a great visit , this included our service dog, she didn't single us out nor treat us any differently which is exactly how we like it. I will recommend a visit to all our friends.
Just wanted to drop an email to you! Wanted to report back that we LOVED THE TOUR!!! We took the tour on Sunday, April 23rd and our guide was Sherri! It was our first visit to Lincoln Caverns and the overall experience was EXCELLENT! Sherri, our guide was both Excellent in her knowledge of the Caverns and Friendliness and Courtesy! The Caverns Exceeded my expectations and we will be recommending Lincoln Caverns to others!!! We saw the road signs on our way to Gettysburg which made us stop!
We had a wonderful time - our best time as a troop yet!!! The girls had so much fun learning and bonding with their friends and the leaders and parents were all very impressed by the content and planning of the weekend. Your scout programs are wonderful!
Superb scouting programs... our Girl Scout Troop just spent the weekend here and we were very impressed by the planning and execution of their programs. Mike was an excellent guide and all of our girls and parents had a blast.
Very informative cavern tours. Tim & Sherri were both awesome. We enjoyed the entire day. I think it is amazing that you put together this program specifically for the Scouts' Earth Rocks Adventure. Thank you!
Thank you for the great experience provided to our Rolling Hills Girl Scouts. Thank you for working with us, for your support, the smooth organization and the fun and educational activities. Please thank your staff for making all of us feel so welcome.
"Ghost and Goblins and Tour of Two Beautiful Caves" If you are in Central Pennsylvania make sure you stop at Lincoln Caverns located on Rt. 22 just outside Huntingdon, Pa. Plenty of parking, easy access, nice gift shop and refreshments are available. Two beautiful caverns, Whisper Rocks and Lincoln caverns are tour guided for your enjoyment. Our tour guide, "Zac", did a wonderful job and was very knowledgeable of the caverns. We enjoyed this experience very much. In the month of October the cavern is decorated in a Halloween theme and ghost and goblins greet you throughout your tour. Plus, at the end you can enjoy a hayride around Warriors Ridge Farm and the kids can pan for precious gems. Great time and would not hesitate in giving it a ten out of ten. The caverns are beautiful. A must visit if in the area.
First of all I want to give a high recommendation based on our tour guide Leigh...she was very sociable, patient, kind, and looked as though she really enjoys her job. So, there are two caverns at this location, the first is small but has a lot of neat formations and also a first for us, tree roots, growing down into the cave...we have been to many caverns and have never seen this. The second cave takes a bit of a hike up a steep hill to get to but is well worth it as the formations are gorgeous in this cave. It has been mostly left just as it was discovered which is nice as many caverns have had to alter the original state of the caves for public access. Overall a great experience, definitely check it out if in the area.
I love visiting caverns and have done so in several states and as far away as New Zealand. That said, I have visited many outstanding caverns over the years - none in Pennsylvania, I am sad to say. That changed with y visit to Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks. I was pleasantly surprised to find a cave in my 'back yard' that I will not only visit again but will not hesitate to recommend to others.
My family lives about 90 minutes from Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks. My children are 7, 6, and 3 years of age. The drive was a very long one for children of that age, but it was well worth the effort. The caves themselves are awesome. And, everyone that is employed there is knowledgeable and courteous. It was a great day.
We are senior visit with friends. We spent a fun filled and active day on Raytown lake and were up late for the fireworks. We decided to let the young people enjoy another day on the lake while we explored the area. We saw the signs for the cavern and that was a great choice. The tour guide a young man was so friendly knowledgeable. He does this job everyday and we felt he enjoyed sharing his cave with us. It is great to go somewhere and see a younger staff member taking owner ship in the adventure. Thank you for a great experience.
Sherri answered every question I had. She was friendly, mindful of the group and my four-year old. Thanks for the great experience! My child is going to love caves and caverns after this trip!
Great tour! Great tour guide, we had a new tour guide I believe her name was Sherry. She said she'd only been working there a few months but she was extremely knowledgeable, charming and friendly. She made the tour very enjoyable! She is a definite asset! Thanks!
I attended a tour of limestone caverns in central Pennsylvania with 4 Grandchildren aged 7 years to 12 years. The guide engaged them throughout the tour and answered all their questions. The setting was comfortable with use of a light jacket. Being water formed caverns one should also expect moist floors and dripping ceilings. the formations were both beautiful, instructive and engaging for the children. They insisted I complete a positive review on return to the gift shop and purchased geological item and panned for gems. They remained engaged for nearly 2 hours.
I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you and the staff for the Cave Camp, Matthew so loves to go. The staff and activities are very creative and engaging also they are very patient with the kids. I would just like everyone know how pleased we are with the camp. I had the opportunity to go through the caves with Matthew when I picked him up one afternoon It was very interesting and the girl who took us through was very knowledgeable. Thanks to you all. We are anxiously awaiting next summer. Maybe you could do two next year???
I hadn't been here since first grade. My friend and I stopped as a spontaneous need for adventure. Our cave guide was knowledgable and so fun! She really seemed to love her job. She answered every question we asked. I've been on other cave tours where the guide seemed bored, uneducated, and just downright unhappy. This experience was some of the most fun I've had in such a long time!!!! Thank you so much for this amazing day!!!! Check out the gift shop too, I got some amazing rocks at great prices.
Very informative.and interesting. Wasn't sure how my kids would like it,but they wouldn't stop talking about it. We had a great time and we think Zac did a great job at taking us through
We traveled from Florida to Pennsylvania with our three grandsons to visit family. Especially cousins they haven't seen in years. We were looking for a place to create wonderful memories for the boys to take home with them. We certainly found that at Lincoln Caverns. They especially loved the gem mining. Thank you for the memories.
I could not have been more impressed by the programming at Lincoln Caverns - the educators knew exactly how to engage the girls and us adults learned a lot too. I've been a Girl Scout leader for seven years and this is the best nature-themed program we've ever attended. Absolutely top quality. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you for providing the Girl Scouts with a perfect weekend. The activities were age appropriate, with just the right balance of listening and hands-on. I loved listening to the Scouts calling out the features of the cave as we entered the rooms. Thank you again for a memorable experience!
I wanted to thank you and your staff for everything that you did at Park Forest Elementary this fall. The students loved learning about caves, bats, and minerals! Also, I wanted to thank your staff for the wonderful job they did on Wednesday, November 23rd, at the in-service. Your staff was very flexible. We had 27 students to start and finished with 29 students. The story and games they played were awesome! Thanks again for everything.
We were at Lincoln Caverns on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 and we had a wonderful experience. Our grandchildren loved it. Ages 7 & 9. Evan was very patience with the children and their questions (which I'm sure made their visit much more enjoyable)! They also enjoyed panning for minerals. The staff in the gift shop were very friendly. Thank you so much for a wonderful day.
We have a camp near there, and this was the first time we ever went there after driving by for 33 years. Wish we would have gone sooner! Our guide (Leah, I believe) was excellent! She was very knowledgeable and personable, not only giving us a history of the caverns, but interacting with us, including the children. It was so fun and informative we will defiantly return! Everything was very clean and excellent employees as well. The gift shop is wonderful! Take the time to stop and see it, you'll be glad you did!
The schedule was perfect! Speleology first, both caves, lunch in the beautiful picnic area, gift shop, then back to school! Well organized, excellent job. We will definitely return. God bless your business.
Once again, the three presenters were excellent! They were very thorough in their descriptions of fossils and what they would see in the caves! Thank you!
The day was well organized with activities that were age appropriate and engaging as well as educational.
Guides were knowledgeable, polite, and entertaining. Well organized! Kids had a great time! Kid-focused presentation.
Love the intro presentation - please continue to do that! Everything is very well planned and organized. Students have an awesome time. Thank you once again for a fabulous field trip!
I wanted to say thank you to you and all of your staff. This was just a fantastic program for the Cub Scouts and just a really nice day for everyone. The boys all really liked all parts of the event. Again, thank you so much we had a large group and your staff was just fantastic.
My wife and I had a great time at Batfest. Thanks for the bat box. It will be put to good use here in Lehigh County. Edgewater Inn and Riverside Grill was fantastic! and so are your bat conservation efforts. Batfest is a great way to educate the public on the importance of protecting bats. Look forward to Batfest 2016!
Batfest was great!” Spent the day here for a special program. Informative speakers. Friendly staff. Wonderful gift shop. Beautiful caverns...can't forget them! Wish we could have spent more time in them though. Schedule shows special programs all year. Check them out or just take the tour, either way it's a great example of the beauty of caves
“Pleasantly surprising experience” We have visited many caverns and caves over the years, but this was the closest we have ever gotten to actual formations. We were there for a special event called Bat Fest, where there were workshops and classes presented on these unique cave dwellers, as well as an up close and personal introduction to a brown bat named Becky. This also included a cave tour and lunch, all for a very affordable price and a unique and cozy way to spend Valentine's Day. My husband and I found the staff personable and knowledgeable. This was a full day, topped off with tours of 2 different caves. I would recommend this attraction to families looking for an affordable and fun day. However, I would caution those that might not like tight spaces or have any physical handicaps to forgo the cave tour and enjoy the gift shop and the gem mining activities.
We enjoyed everything about the ghost& gobbles the stay overnight was great. the girls realy learned alot about bats. thank you to all staff members you where great. We will be back.We put the bat house up and now we have bats to watch.
Hello! On 8/23/14 my family and I visited Lincoln Caverns for the first time. We had a great experience but we forgot to turn in our comment card! Just wanted to be sure to give Mike the credit he deserves! He did an excellent job as a guide. He was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and made our experience a great one. When our youngest who is 2 started to get restless, Mike gave him a little flashlight to borrow and it definitely kept him occupied. We appreciated his patience and understanding with our children and the rest of the children on the tour. He made it fun for everyone. The overall experience was excellent and Mike's knowledge of the caverns and friendliness/courtesy was Excellent, exceeding our expectations. We would definitely recommend the tour to others. We first heard about the caverns from a pamphlet we found in the house we stayed at in Raystown, and also from other people who have visited. We look forward to coming back one day, maybe next year! Thanks so much!
We selected Lincoln Caverns because it is halfway across Pennsylvania... and because it advertised a "panning for gold" experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cave itself and the clarity and pace of the tour. I was glad it did not contain a lot of hype, but did call attention to interesting details and showed respect for the simple amazing features of nature. The kids enjoyed it and it kept their interest the whole time. The tour guide. Alyssa, was respectful, knowledgeable, and interested in the topic herself. We all enjoyed her personality.
Mike served as our tour guide for grandchildren ranging in age from 4 3/4 to 12, two with special needs. rules were given up front and adhered to by our group. Pleasure to spend our tour with Mike. He was friendly, engaged the children in Q & A, helped with their powers of observation and sense of adventure. His depth of technical knowledge was excellent. He was honest when there were alternative technical explanations. Overall, I would vote the tour with a high grade for scientific merit. More often, cave guides push formations and likeness to outside features and follow a narrow script. I could see where Betty and Will White might have been of help in this respect. Also, choice of gifts, reference, etc. in gift shop included more technical materials, rock (mineral specimens, etc., than junk art). Our grandchildren spend a week a summer with us on various adventures. They all voted to return to Lincoln Caverns again next summer!
Mike, Thanks so much for your tour of the caves. The seven of us...included three generations and we enjoyed ourselves greatly. My grandson (age 6) had a blast panning for gems the soil for his 'treasure' and was amazed with the geodes we had cut. we bought three of them! Priceless gems to be kept forever! The lady that cut our geodes was very knowledgeable about them as well. Yes, a great time was had by all!
My husband and I were on our way home from vacationing in Gettysburg pa we saw the sign and decided to stop and visit. We Loved our tour guide Monica she was very knowledgeable of the cave . We highly recommend people to visit this beautiful and awesome cave.. We will def visit again ThankYou for a awesome experience
Mike was absolutely fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He told us all the rules for the caves before starting out. Very, very pleased with the experience. Thanks again for a great tour!
Thank you so very much for your time and attention in providing me with the information for the Girl Scout Halloween Event. In my years as a Girl Scout Leader, planning and researching possible activities for the girls, rarely has a representative of an organization been as helpful and as kind as you. Again, Thank you. Have a great day, and, I do hope to see you in October!
I just wanted to thank you for all your help with our visit to Lincoln Caverns. You and Mike did a great job and the Troop 76 Scouts really enjoyed our visit. I think we all learned a lot about bats and have a better understanding of these flying mammals; and an appreciation of how they benefit the natural world. Being able to stay at the campground was also a big plus. Again, many thanks.
Love It! We went on the Fourth Of July. With very young kids 7, 3, 2, and 3week old... Jen, was our tour guide she was very knowledgeable n she calm our son down bc he started crying cus it was dark by the end of the tour she was holding our son hand n giving the tour lol... called him her lil buddy... it was great we had a small group so it was excellent. The kids did the mining for gems got them two bags n that was a lot they loved it... thank you guys and Jen. We will see you again next year.
We loved it. From the children to the adults. Will go back. The cave was very I interesting. The guide answered question and was knowledgeable about how it was found and how the smaller one was also.
My husband and I were at your cave on June 29, 2014 and we wanted to let you know how much we appreciate our guide Monica and what a great a job she did on our tour. This young lady did such an excellent job explaining the different landmarks in the cave. She was friendly and knowledgeable. You are very lucky to have her on your staff. She is a valuable asset to your company. Thank you.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient. We were a small group, just my wife, myself and 3 grand kids, all with cameras. She allowed us all the time we wanted for taking pictures as well as patiently explaining everything the kids had questions about. Both caves are beautiful and worth a visit!
very nice attraction, this was our second visit, neat to be able to tour 2 separate caves at one low price! staff very friendly and knowledgeable
Monica, was a great tour guide showing us many really interesting items in the caves we entered !! She is a blessing for your business! A kind warm heart attractive young lady. Being a business owner my self i notice certain qualities with employees . Monica, has every quality that makes for a fantastic employee !! I am telling other Rv friends to stop by and check out the caverns . To see very beautiful caves and to have the pleasure of experiencing Monica !! May god bless you all and of course sweet Monica !!
There are two large caves. We visited several other caves in PA, these caves are unique. The guide was knowledgeable and professional. The discovery of the caves and family history of the owners are something to remember. We had a great time.
This was our 5th cave tour and Nelson was by far the best guide. We really enjoyed ourselves! Thank you!
Mike was excellent. we've been to MANY caves and Mike was the best guide. educational; to the point; no silly nonsense. Great job. Thank you!
Mike was wonderful. He took time to educate us as well as make it fun for a six year old. He even let her use his coat when she got cold. It was an excellent experience.
These caverns are truly unique and beautiful. Each group gets a guide who is very knowledgable and seemed patient with the volume of questions my kids had. Make sure you bring a sweatshirt, it is only 52 in the caverns. When you buy your kid ticket, you have the option to add the pan for gems. We did it for one child ticket and got a bag of dirt that was big enough for both to share. I was shocked how many stones they found- they loved it.
We've always had a wonderful educational experience. I especially like how you manage the gift shop with the children, putting names on bags and in classroom boxes. Mike gave the students a lot of information in a fun way. They really enjoyed his tour. Alyssa's program the week before is an excellent way to discuss the rules and info - which then can be referred to the day of the field trip. Thanks for a great day!
All the staff are helpful and friendly. Check-out at gift shop deals very well with kids with limited knowledge of money. Our third graders really enjoy visiting Lincoln Caverns. Some claim it is the very best of all field trips taken. We've even had high school students say that Lincoln Caverns was the 'best' of all their field trips while attending Penns Manor!
The tours were excellent and Gloria did a great job with the fossil workshop! Mike's classroom presentation was fantastic. Coming into the classroom ahead of the field trip prepares the students for the caves! I appreciate everything you do to make the field trip enjoyable for the students!
Thank you!!!! Our field trip was wonderful! Our presenter and guide, Mike, was a great and managed the students well. It was very well run and we loved the fact that there was very little down time. What a great experience! We love how the staff comes to the school for the presentation prior to the field trip.
Our day at Lincoln Caverns was great. we got lucky with the weather and appreciate the organized and kid friendly staff. Our guide, Ariel, was very informative and good with the kids. the presentation the day before at our school was great!
Great place to visit and learn! I have been going to Lincoln Caverns since I was a little girl. I visit PA once or twice a year. My son is 23 years old and has been there several times. Just this past December my extended family was visiting and we took them to Lincoln Caverns. They loved it! We called ahead, since it was winter, and they made sure someone was there to give us a tour. Plus, they have a great gift shop.
Kids made the comment "Best day of their life!" They really enjoyed the caves and mining for gems. What an awesome day! We truly enjoyed our visit. Hope to see you again next year.
It was the best field trip we've ever had to Lincoln Caverns! WOW! Guides were terrific! Everything went so smoothly. Thanks for a wonderful day!
The students truly enjoy this field trip. They are amazed with the formations. The staff is so cordial and accommodating. The experience is always pleasurable. Thank you!
We had a wonderful time visiting the caverns! We were so interested in the family history. We had Breanna - who was training with Jennifer. She did a fantastic job - we would never, never have known it was only her 4th day giving tours! Thank you so much for helping to set up our group tour - it was a highlight of Easter family gathering this year!
Kudos to the instructors! Jenn, Mike & Tim were so patient explaining things to the girls. Even the leaders learned new information. Great job! We'll be recommending you at our next Service Unit meeting.
The teachers were very complimentary about the organization of our day and the knowledge of your staff. They handled our students very well. Thank you for the bookmarks, posters, and guest passes. We all had a great day.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience for our troop! The girls and moms all loved the trip and many have talked about it all week. I have already recommended you to another troop in our service unit. You have a wonderful program and special caverns. Mostly, we enjoyed how much you love what you do. It really shows and the activities were fun and appropriate for the girls. I am in the process of completing the evaluation and will send it in shortly. Thanks again for bringing such a personal history to our tour. The girls will remember this experience for a long time!
We really had a blast at Lincoln Caverns. Thank you so much for all you do for scouting—and also for both preserving your caverns and making them available to the public. That must be a fine line to walk. I can tell you that the boys of Troop 396 learned a lot about respecting the fragile underground environment. I hope the troop will visit Lincoln Caverns again.
We wanted to thank you and Jenn for a fantastic weekend and great fun! The girls loved all they did and we all learned so much. They are all begging to go back. You both did a fantastic job and we really appreciate all you did for us. You have inspired our next service project to save the bats! Thank you!
Our son is in his senior year at Juniata and even though this trip was to bring a few things to him, my husband and i decided to turn it into a late summer, early fall getaway for us (this year is our 30th wedding anniversary). Lincoln Caverns was a great way to end to the weekend. we had a very knowledgeable guide. We will definitely return. I also recommend it for families and scout groups.
My husband and I were looking for something to do on a rainy day in central PA. We came up with visiting a cave and more or less flipped a coin to decide between two of the caverns in the area. We were not disappointed by Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks. Our guide was sweet and very knowledgeable about the caverns. She was certain to ask what kind of experience we'd had before in caves and brought the tour up to that level (my husband and I had both visited some caves before so we knew the very rudimentary stuff). Some of the formations in the caves were really unique. I also loved the story of how Lincoln Cavern was discovered and hearing about the early years of the attraction. I'm glad we stopped and I felt the price of admission was very much worth it. Just a note, in October they do haunted cave tours and decorate Lincoln Cavern and the gift shop to match. Overall, I highly recommend to others looking for a family-friendly activity, especially on a rainy day when you might not want to be outside too much.
My son and I had an awesome time at Lincoln Caverns. The cave tour was amazing, with lots of really cool things to see and do. The best part were the people - the guides were all very friendly and super knowledgeable about the history and science of the place. I would definitely recommend going to visit for anyone!
My trip, I live in SC it takes me about 9 hours to get here. Came up to see my daughter an son in law they took us to see a lot of things. LINCOLN CAVERNS was the best the people who run the place are great they are nice and polite. The one guy that took us tour the Caverns was a great man we had a lot of fun with him. I forgot his name but he was great we will be back to visit.
Absolutely lovely! Missy was our guide and this tour was chuck full of really little kids. She kept it short, but entertaining and kept the attention of the kids- which was a challenge( As a former preschool teacher, I appreciate how great she was)! She was polite, and well informed.
It was a wonderful field trip; I was very impressed with the organization and efficiency of the tour, slide show, fossil dig, and fossil presentation. The staff were all very helpful, friendly, and prepared. The children loved it!
Our entire experience was just awesome. Having a knowledgeable guide like Sam put the icing on the cake. My 3 year old was just memorized by all the sights and Sam was so patient with him even though he kept interrupting her with his questions.
Had a great time learning about the Caves. Sam our guide was super sweet and very informative. She really kept the group interested. The amount of time for the tour was just right. This would be an excellent school trip or GS/BS adventure.
I just wanted to report that I had an amazing time last night on the photography tour! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and extremely courteous. It was just super. If you have it again next year, I will be back. Thanks so much!!
Love it! Visit yearly. Mike was great this year! Took extra time to make sure the little ones in our group enjoyed the trek as much as us adults! Very informative, always love seeing and hearing about the caves! Learn something new each time!
This past weekend our hometown was overrun with a festival we aren’t fond of so we spent the weekend exploring nearby attractions we’d never taken the opportunity to visit before. I am so thankful that we include Lincoln Caverns in our trip. It was an all-around excellent experience! From arriving at the front desk to sign up for the tour, throughout the caverns and back into the gift shop to pick-up a few souvenirs, each and every employee we met was engaging, friendly and knowledgeable. That is such a rarity in this day and age! We gravitate toward adult only activities and were a bit concerned when several children were included in our tour group. We shouldn’t have been. Our tour guide, Mike, was excellent. He was obviously very knowledgeable and seems to have a natural talent for keeping the young ones engaged while still providing all the info adults might be interested in. It is very apparent that the owners and staff are committed to preserving the beauty and integrity of these caverns and the surrounding environment, while still providing an enjoyable and educational experience to the public. I am sure balancing those goals is a hard thing to do at times but you certainly succeed. Thank you for a wonderful experience and kudos on your commitment. We will be recommending a Lincoln Caverns tour to all our friends near and far.
I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to you and your staff. Our troop really enjoyed the caves and learning about different animals and their habitats. They loved working with the tools to build the bat house. I will most definitely recommend other troops to come visit you! Again thank you for making our trip extra special.
Thank you to the staff at Lincoln Caverns for being such wonderful hostesses and hosts during our overnight Brownie Wonders of Water adventure. we enjoyed meeting "Brownie the Bat," learning all about how caves form, protecting our groundwater from pollution, conserving our water, and making water-related crafts. Lauren was a fun and patient tour guide and pointed out all the beautiful cave formations. We are recommending the caverns to all of the troop leaders we know!
Thank you. We were there over Easter weekend and my almost 10 year old son loved it. We were visiting with my brother and his wife who live nearby in Hollidaysburg. My son is a scout and I wish your place was closer then his pack would go there. He did show them the pictures we took though and is giving a speech in Science class tomorrow about your Caverns and made a poster out of pictures. We will be back some day.
...I really enjoyed this trip. It was worth every penny. Geo-caching was really fun. Thank you for letting us shop and stay above the gift shop. I really appreciated it. And...thanks a BILLION for the cave tour. ...Thank you for letting us have a late tour in the caves and showing us the different things in the cave and how they formed over the years. I enjoyed all the caves and panning for gems and geocaching.
We were worried about how our students with disabilities would do. The flashlights were a comfort to a child afraid of the dark. Tim was excellent with our boys. The concepts were within their understanding. Coming to the school before the visit transforms our trip from a vacation day from school into a real educational experience. The whold experience is enjoyable - including the gift shop. Thank you for your patience. It's wonderful. April 2011
Lauren was a fun and knowledgeable tour guide! The girls all learned so much and had a great time coming up with conservation ideas. Many thanks to Ann, Alyssa, Alisha, and Laruen for teaching us so much about water conservation, the importance of protecting our groundwater and defending our caves.
My son and I visited Lincoln Caverns this past summer when we were in the Raystown Lake area. The gift shop is nice, and the tour guides seem to be pretty well-informed. I haven't been in too many caves, but my son and I have toured a few of the last couple of years. This is well worth the visit, and it sounds like it would be a lot of fun to visit for Halloween as well. Visited July 2012
We had a great time! Well worth the 3 1/2 hour drive. Very informative - a great cumulative activity. Fabulous way to spend our cookie money. Can't wait to come back for another program!
Our guide did such a great job. She was great with our kids and really held their attention. The staff and site was super accommodating. We were SO impressed and happy with our visit.
While on our retrun trip from Gettysburg, we happened upon Lincoln Caverns, you can't help but see the signs along the way. We decided to stop but I really didn't have very high expectations, seemed like a tourist trap. Much to our surprise it was a great cavern experience & our Guide Mike was excellent. There are actually 2 separate caverns, located close within walking distance, each with different features. Tour lasted about an hour & was well worth the $$$, actually inexpensive. We would highly recommend checking out!
Well done workshops and hands-on learning. Very enjoyable. Nice day with lots of learning and plenty of time to complete activities. The cave tour was especially interesting.
The Cub Scouts learned a lot! The time slots for stations were perfect and did not leave the boys with extra 'down time' - Thank you! The entire staff did a fantastic job with our Scouts and parents. We had a great experience!
Thank you so much for taking the time to hold the overnight Girl Scout workshop with our troop. The girls had a wonderful time learning about speleology and bats, touring the caves and making their very own bat house. It will definitely be an experience they will never forget.
Guide was very patient and knowledgeable. Information was at the students' level. The fossil workshop was very hands on. The field trip was very organized, pace was appropriate, and staff pleasant and knowledgeable. Students and adults alike learned much and enjoyed the experiences. Thanks very much!
Our troop, 40855 Brownies, spent a night there and they had a ball!!!I've been hearing about cave bacon and popcorn for days now. Thanks for the good time.
I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our WOW weekend at Lincoln Caverns. We were really impressed by the program you put out for the girls. It was all so well done and we ALL learned so much and had a great time. The caverns were wonderful!
We had an absolutely wonderful time this weekend. Thank you so much for your passion and energy… I never realized how interesting caves were until I met you. You made learning so much fun that we are looking forward to visiting more caves. Our guide, Alysa, and our instructor, Jennifer, were both top notch—such great examples of strong, capable, smart female leaders for our girls. What a treasure you have. Thanks again for a memorable weekend.
Nice job, Ann, Tim, Alisha, Jenn. Thanks for making our trip a huge success. Not only did the Scouts have a great time, they all said they would come back and that it was worth the 4 1/2 hour drive! Thanks, Jenn. The day went quickly and was educational!
Fantastic job! I just wanted to commend you on an outstanding job with the Ghosts and Goblins tour. We had a lot of fun, and the two 'tough' 8-year-old boys with us who bet me they wouldn't scream sufficiently lost that bet. Keep up the great work!
My family and I visited your caverns today we had a great time. My 6 and 7 year old boys learned alot and had fun. My 6 year old was so excited he wanted to go to another cavern after we finished going through Whisper Rocks. He was dissappointed there was notanother one go through. He was satisfied when I told him we could come back another day maybe inthe spring. Thank you again for an enjoyable excperience.
Wonderful experience, made even better by superb guide. My wife and I were in the area and decided to stop here. Great move. We thoroughly loved the limestone cave and its beautiful features which were described in minute detail by our absolutely outstanding guide, Lauren. As with many attractions, an engaged and knowledgeable narrator who was happy to put up with our many, many questions (and who provided ample warnings about tricky floor surfaces, tight squeezes, etc.) made a good thing even better. The gift shop is well stocked with beautiful minerals starting as low as a few dollars per specimen. My wife loves her huge fossilized Trilobite!
Wonderful! I didn't really know what I was getting into coming here but this exceeded all expectations. Lauren, the tour, the whole experience was great! Thanks!
Tyler was very nice and knowledgable. The temperature in the caves was wonderful. Thanks for a great time and your hard work!
Thank you Lincoln Caverns! The kids had a blast today! Kieran said it was "the best birthday ever!" Special thanks to our guide Jennifer - she did a great job in her presentation and she kept the kids involved!
Thanks for a great tour. It was great and we will be back again. Our guide Lauren was great and had a lot of patience and was willing to wait until we were ready to move on.
What an amazing and gorgeous natural formation! It really makes you look at the world in a new light when you come out. Keep your eyes peeled for the Wishing Well, it's the coolest!!! Thanks, Tyler, for an amazing tour.
Thank you and Jim for a wonderful tour yesterday. We found it extremely to hear authentic and accurate observations of God's Creations. Thanks!!! God Bless!
Yesterday I took some visitors from the UK to see the beautiful Lincoln Caverns, my second visit. We had a great time, which was greatly enhanced by a wonderful young lady, Lauren, one of your employees. First I would like to say how professional, interesting, knowledgeable, and friendly Lauren was. We were in a group of 14 visitors, and she managed to keep us all entertained and interested throughout the tour. She is a credit to your company, but I am guessing you already know that.
I just went to lincoln caverns may 12 i loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a great trip as always. Your guides are very knowledgable and I appreciate their patience with the students. I am very glad we are able to continue this trip each year. The students love it and learn a lot from the experience. Thank you!
Tim's tour and classroom presentation was superb! Students also enjoyed making the fossil casts and looking for fossils in the fossil pile. Excellent field trip! Keep everything the same! Schedule of events is perfect.
We truly appreciate that a staff member was able to come to school and brief the students before the trip. "Made the trip more meaningful." The Fact Sheet that we received was very helpful. Groupings were appropriate and it was nice that each group had an activity to do the whole time we were there.
Just a short note to thank you for the great job you and your staff did on Thursday. Our students really enjoyed the trip and some are still talking about it. I also had some parents tell me that their kids talked non-stop about it when they got home. It is always good to have a field trip that sparks their interest. Makes it all worthwhile. Thanks again. April 2011
Our trip to Lincoln Caverns was a trip that will always be remembered as one of our best trips. The boys as well as the parents really enjoyed our stay with you. This was a first for some of our Scouts to go on an overnighter. Thanks to you and your staff, we felt right at home. Thank you again for everything. I will promote your facility to other Scout Leaders and hope they too will come and enjoy a day with you.
Thank you so much for the wonderful tour, workshops, and accommodations last week. We had a great time, learned alot, and came home with alot of memories that will last a lifetime. We can't thank you enough for the different ways that you affected each of us.
Many thanks for your Batfest program on February 12! The day was very informative, so much so that I would hope it will continue and grow. I've always been fascinated by bats and the Batfest program increased my desire for greater knowledge of bats. Thank you again for the Batfest!!
Workshops were hands-on and fun, plus the kids loved the cave. Fantastic! We loved it and will return!
I would lke to thank you for the great cave camp this week. My son was involved for the first time and had a blast! I don't even know if he could tell you what his favorite part was because he loved it all!
Way to go all of you! Once again we had a fabulous cave adventure! Your organization is greatly appreciated and you all are so kid friendly! Looking forward to next year!
I wanted to thank you and your staff for a wonderful program at Lincoln Caverns. It far exceeded our expectations. Your staff was wonderful, fully knowledgeable about each program they taught, and very patient with the girls. The girls enjoyed themselves so much.
Wonderful and educational tour....definetely has the WOW factor.....Tyler did a superb job as our tour leader....answered everyone's questions....definetely will be back again. We were definately impressed with how long the tour was - it wasn't rushed and it certainly was informative. What a great natural attraction...keep up the great work!
This is our second year and both classes have thoroughly enjoyed the trip. They were excited about sharing their experience with the other teachers and students at the school. This trip is a culminating activity that goes with our rocks & minerals unit as well as our changing earth unit.
Loved the cave tours & gem panning. Lots of activity, it kept the girls busy & excited. Best overnight event I've been to! Very orgainized and PACKED FULL of activities! Wow, what a great trip. It took 2 hours to get there but it was worth every minute. The girls were never bored, always engaged in activity. WORTH EVERY PENNY WE SPENT!
Absolutely lovely! Missy was our guide and this tour was chuck full of really little kids. She kept it short, but entertaining and kept the attention of the kids- which was a challenge( As a former preschool teacher, I appreciate how great she was)! She was polite, and well informed.
We have been here twice and feel the progam is absolutely wonderful! Thank you!
All the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout this event. They made it very enjoyable. We will be sure to tell others to try this wonderful experience.
Girls attending April 9 - 10, 2010 Junior Combo, Geocaching & Junior Cave Explorer said the programs was... Very Cool! We loved it! Wicked Cool, especially naming the bats! Whoa! This is soooo cool! Girls loved it 100%. They made up a song about it! Thanks girls - we had a great time too!`
Everything was well planned and organized. Loved the craft items made. Wonderful program!
Very well organized, age appropriate activities. We loved it!
Just wanted to let you know we had a great time at Lincoln Caverns. Thank you for all of your help! Also, Kat did a really nice job with the program and tours. All of the adults in our group were impressed by her knowledge and enthusiasm. Thanks again.
I just wanted to write you a quick note to say that I really enjoyed BATFEST! I was a little worried when I first got there and saw all the kids. I felt a bit out of place not having any little ones with me! But you did a great job of blending adult and kid activities and I enjoyed myself the entire time and learned a lot! I also wanted to thank you for giving me some names of bat researchers. I have been in contact with the PA game commission, so hopefully I will find some volunteer opportunities to help the bats and to get some relevant experience while I am in the process of selecting a graduate program! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for the program this weekend. It was the best GS council program my daughter and I have been to. We really appreciate the time and effort you put into making it interesting, informative and fun for the girls.
I've been going to the Lincoln Caverns since I was 7 years old and I am in my mid 20's now. There is always something new discovered as years progress. Also, if you're a fan of photography it's the perfect place to get some amazing shots inside and outside! I always try to bring new people with me because they never experienced it but they always thank me afterward. Definitely worth the trip and money.
A quick note to say Thank You for an amazing tour by Kat last Thursday. I was in Tyrone with my sons visiting my mother and grandmother and decided to bring them over for a tour (the boys flew in with me from San Antonio, TX). They're 6 a...nd 8 and LOVED it - still talking about it today! Lincoln Caverns is simply an outstandingly preserved natural treasure - thanks for keeping it that way so everyone can enjoy what we experienced! I'm looking forward to scheduling my by-appointment photography tour some time in the near future!Read More
Just attended the last Photography Tour on August 19th. Drove in from OH just for this special experience. I can definitely say I wasn't disappointed. Thanks so much for a wonderful opportunity!
We thank you very much for your generosity and kindness in taking our Vacation Bible School children to the Lincoln Caverns and providing snacks after the tour. Not only the children but also the teachers and helper enjoyed the magnificent God&#...039;s creation. The theme and tour at the Lincoln caverns was memorable event for all the participants. thank you very much and keep up all your good and blessed works!
This Cave illustrates how beautiful nature can be. Many massive flowstones, stalactites (of course), white calcite, and sparking crystals. This is a family-friendly adventure, with great tour guides who take their time with kids and adults. Kids can pan for gems, arrow heads, fossils or choose from a selection of educational books or toys from the gift shop. They have Scout programs, offer cave camp, a haunted house (cave) in October, and Batfest in February. There are nature trails, picinic pavilions, and seasonal campgroud. The cave tours last about an hour and are both educational and entertaining. The caves are 52 degrees year round and Cameras are more than welcome.
Two caves for the price of one, family-friendly, family-run, great reasonably-priced gift shop, gem panning, very friendly for a commercial cave! Each cave is unique, it may not be the biggest or the oldest but I'm favoring this one and I've been to about 20 in the eastern US. They don't use artificial lights to make their cave look better, it's naturally beautiful. And the BATS! They are very abundant (don't worry, you are safe no ones been eaten). Sadly, we didn't spend more than a couple of hours there, we were passing though (nice leg stretch) but plan on taking advantage of more of what they have to offer next time we head East! What you might want to bring: camera, walking shoes or boots (some puddles), jacket, and a small flashlight was helpful with keeping my 4 year old more entertained.
Thank you! Great job on the layout and format of our two badge program. We thought all of the workshops were neat and the girls had a blast with learning about caves, bats, fossils & gems. The instructors did a fantastic job, were very knowledgeable. Programs were well thought out and very organized. We liked the variety of workshops with traditional insturction and hands on experiences, keeping all learners engaged!
Last week my wife and I toured Lincoln and Whisper Rocks and it was the best on our PA cavern tour trip. Theresa was our tour guide and she did a great job explaining the history of Lincoln Caverns and how caverns develop. She gets an A+ for her enthusiasm and knowledge.
