Festive Fall Coloring Contest Winners Announced
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Huntingdon, PA. The Festive Fall Coloring Contest is sponsored each year by Lincoln Caverns and Domino’s Pizza of Huntingdon, with the assistance of the elementary art teachers in each participating school. Students in grades 3 – 6 are eligible to enter an original drawing. Two winners are then chosen at random from each of twelve schools. This year there were 623 total entries, all of which have been displayed throughout the month at Lincoln Caverns’ Visitors Center. All students entering the contest will receive complimentary tickets to Lincoln Caverns to be used anytime during the summer of 2010, plus a special offer coupon from Domino’s Pizza of Huntingdon. The winners and their families enjoyed a pizza party, sponsored by Domino’s, panning for gems and a Ghosts and Goblins tour of Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks on Saturday, October 24th. Congratulations to all the winners!
An added feature of this year’s Festive Fall Coloring Contest was the opportunity for students to donate to White Nose Syndrome Research, a disease killing bats in the eastern United States. Each student was provided with a coloring sheet picturing a bat with his wings spread, showing the bat’s gen fingers. Next to each finger there was a circle for the students to tape a dime in. Although the donation was optional, $200.00 was collected to send to Bat Conservation International to be dispersed for White Nose Syndrome Research. Lincoln Caverns sincerely appreciates the efforts of all the students who donated their dimes!
