Boy Scout Geology & Geocaching Camporee
Camp out at Warrior Ridge Campground and earn Merit Badges with boys from PA and surrounding states!
Learn about the exciting new game of geocaching with the new Geocaching Merit Badge program. Boys will engage in activities to learn the use of a GPS unit, learn the importance of compass skills when geocaching, and head outside on their own geocache hunt. Saturday evening, engage in a pre-tour presentation about cave conservation, cave formation, and cave life. Then descend into the cave for an evening flashlight tour, through two beautiful crystal caverns. On Sunday, rotate your thinking towards geology - each boy will put together their own rock & mineral collections, learn to identify fossils with a collection to take home, while discussing earth history and mining and mineral resources. Two days of learning and hands-on fun specifically designed to fulfill Geocaching and Geology Merit Badge requirements. Includes two nights camping, lunch both days, CITO container materials, rock & mineral collection, fossil collection, and flashlight cavern tours. One day/one night options available. Pre-registration is required. Deposit accepted at the time of registration, with balance due two weeks prior to the event date.
