Junior Cave Explorer Patch Program

Lincoln Caverns presents an all new educational and fun-filled adventure just for Brownies, Cub Scouts & Youth Groups through age 12. The 5 1/2 hour program features two hands-on cave workshops conducted by experienced staff specially trained to work with young children plus 'An Introduction to Speleology' pre-tour program, a special interpretive tour of the caverns, and a 'Lincoln Caverns Junior Cave Explorer' patch upon completion

Featured Workshops Include:

  • Junior Cave Explorer Workshop, featuring the Kids Cave Krawl simulated caving adventure!
  • Cave Life Workshop

Eco-Explorer Brownie Try-It

Lincoln Caverns is now offering a specially designed program for Brownies to earn an Eco-Explorer Try-It. Girls will explore the relationships between animals and habitat through crafts and activities. A pre-tour program 'An Introduction to Speleology', is included as well as a guided interpretive tour of the caverns.

Workshops during this 5 1/4 hour program include:

  • Cave Habitat
  • Endangered Species

Let's Get Digging Try-It

Lincoln Caverns is now providing activities to complete the Let's Get Digging Try-It for Brownie Girl Scouts. Hands-on activities will allow girls to learn about the building blocks of earth and explore geological features through maps. A pre-tour program 'An Introduction to Speleology', is included as well as a guided interpretive tour of the caverns.

Workshops during this 5 1/4 hour program include:

  • Rock Sleuth
  • Elevation Station

Fossil Safari Try-It

Lincoln Caverns offers programs to help Brownie Girl Scouts complete a Fossil Safari Try-It. Girls will learn about the past by examining fossils, creating a poster about the past, and making a fossil cast to take home. A pre-tour program 'An Introduction to Speleology', is included as well as a guided interpretive tour of the caverns.

Workshops during this 5 1/4 hour program include:

  • Fossils
  • Geologic Time

Going Batty Try-It Programs

Lincoln Caverns has added a new program for Girl Scout Brownies to meet the requirements for the Going Batty Try-It.  Girls will be learn about bat species, bat myths, and how all us can be better neighbors to our insectivorous friends - the bats.  Girls will make a poster, and a create a bat craft from recycled materials.  A pre-tour program "An Introduction to Speleology, is included as well as a guided interpretive tour of the caverns.

Workshops during this 5 1/4 hour program include:

  • Batty About Bats
  • Bats Are Good Guys

Bring your sleeping bags and spend the night in heated/air-conditioned comfort upstairs in our learning center. There is room to sleep up to 60 people. Restroom facilities are located in our Visitors' Center wing and refrigeration is available. Coffee maker and TV with VCR on site. Indoor lodging available for one night only: during your program.

A two-day option with lodging elsewhere is also available.

 Try-It Events for Girl Scout Brownies


These Try-It Event Days cater to small troops who do not have the opportunity to participate in a Council sponsored program at Lincoln Caverns or have date conflicts with their Council's dates, so they can participate in a Try-It program with no minimum fees required. Lincoln Caverns will for the first time this year offer opportunities for troops to register directly with Lincoln Caverns and participate in their choice of Girl Scout Brownie Try-It or Patch during their visit.

Pre-registration is required and will be accepted on a first-come/first-serve basis. Recieve information packet by signing up in our Scout Leader Area or register online for the program of your choice through our Events Calendar.
